STEP 2: Create Control

Edition: Core and Pro

Purpose

Convert the Step 1 guides into surface-following follicles and slide controls. The resulting control drives texture placement in Step 3.

Before You Begin

Complete Step 1 and position every guide. The selected mesh and at least one guide must still exist.

Actions

Button Result
Create Control Creates the follicle/control hierarchy for every guide.
Revert Removes the Step 2 build and returns to editable guides.

Step-by-Step Usage

  1. Confirm the guide positions in the viewport.
  2. Select the desired shape and color for each row in Part Control Settings:.
  3. Click Create Control.
  4. Select the generated slide control in the scene and adjust its Precision if the movement sensitivity needs tuning.

Result

Texelator creates a follicle, control hierarchy, slide control, hidden bind joint, and supporting utility connections for each guide. Follicle shapes and the original guide are hidden after a successful build. The Step 3 texture UI becomes available.

How to Verify

Move a generated *_Slide_ctrl. It should drive the rig position over the surface. The Create Control button becomes disabled after success and Step 3 is enabled.

Common Problems

  • Mesh not selected from Step 1: return to Step 1 and select the mesh.
  • No locators created in Step 1: add at least one guide.
  • Control movement feels wrong: edit the slide control Precision attribute; lower values reduce movement and higher values increase it.

Next Step

Continue to STEP 3: Select Textures & Connect to Materials.
