Tutorial: Basic Texture Rig

Edition: Core and Pro

Goal

Create one controllable texture on a mesh using the Core-compatible workflow.

Requirements

A polygon mesh with valid UVs and one image file.

Procedure

  1. Select the mesh and click Select Mesh.
  2. Enter Detail in Prefix: and click Create Guides.
  3. Move the new guide to the intended surface position.
  4. In Part Control Settings: choose a curve shape and color.
  5. Click Create Control.
  6. In the Texture for 'Detail': row, click Select File....
  7. Choose Projection? for planar projection, or turn it off for UV placement.
  8. Click Build Final.

Verify

Move Detail_Slide_ctrl and confirm the texture position responds. Check the material or a render viewport to confirm the image is connected.

Common mistakes

  • Do not click Create Control before positioning the guide.
  • Do not leave the file path as No texture selected.
  • If the result needs a different placement mode, use Step 3 Revert, adjust Projection?, and build again.

Cleanup

Use Step 3 Revert to remove the material build, Step 2 Revert to return to guides, or Step 1 Revert to return to the selected mesh state.
