Tutorial: Basic Texture Rig¶

Goal¶
Create one controllable texture on a mesh using the Core-compatible workflow.
Requirements¶
A polygon mesh with valid UVs and one image file.
Procedure¶
- Select the mesh and click Select Mesh.
- Enter
Detailin Prefix: and click Create Guides. - Move the new guide to the intended surface position.
- In Part Control Settings: choose a curve shape and color.
- Click Create Control.
- In the
Texture for 'Detail':row, click Select File.... - Choose Projection? for planar projection, or turn it off for UV placement.
- Click Build Final.
Verify¶
Move Detail_Slide_ctrl and confirm the texture position responds. Check the
material or a render viewport to confirm the image is connected.
Common mistakes¶
- Do not click Create Control before positioning the guide.
- Do not leave the file path as
No texture selected. - If the result needs a different placement mode, use Step 3 Revert, adjust Projection?, and build again.
Cleanup¶
Use Step 3 Revert to remove the material build, Step 2 Revert to return to guides, or Step 1 Revert to return to the selected mesh state.
